 Summary

The Power Agents project aims to spread knowledge of energy savings and changing behaviour in households by clear positive messages. The project aims at motivating and supporting young people in taking care about their own energy consumption, the energy consumption of their families and their personal surroundings. Young people are trained on a voluntary basis; the project aims to give them a group feeling as a backup for their mission and wants to encourage the young people to spread their knowledge.

Members of the target group are trained to become "Power Agents" that identify energy saving potentials in their own households (module 1) and their surroundings, e.g. neighbours, friends (module 2); "Power Agents" will learn behavioural measures to lower energy consumption; thus "Power Agents" will become multipliers of a "energy savings" message.

Objectives
The project aims at educating young people in energy saving measures + motivating and supporting them in taking care about their own energy consumption, as well as the energy consumption of their families and their personal surroundings; the motivation shall be strengthened by creating a group feeling among the target group.

Regional scope

Regional (Federal State of North Rhine-Westfalia)

Target group

Groups of young people (mainly pupils) from 11 to 16 years of age; teenagers should preferably already be organised in existing group structures (e.g. environmental organisations, school classes or working groups, youth groups); groups should be supervised by an adult (e.g. teacher, tutor); some knowledge about climate change and its relationship to energy issues should be available.

Type ofintervention
Members of the target group will be trained to become "Power Agents" that identify energy saving potentials in their own households (module 1) and their surrounding incl. e.g. neighbours, friends (module 2); "Power Agents" will also be taught in behavioural measures to lower the energy consumption; thus "Power Agents" will become multipliers of a "energy savings" message.A virtual web based platform will be established to stimulate exchange (e.g. experience, ideas) between the different "Power Agents" groups and to create a community feeling among the participating groups;
